Roma 5-0 Juve

Following their traumatic defeat in Madrid on Tuesday, another heavy defeat in the league leaves Juve chained near the bottom of the table as we head into the Spring break. Guillermo was in fine form early on for Roma. He harried the defenders and forced two mistakes, one of which he put wide but the other he tucked into the back of the net.
He made it 2-0 soon after when Michele played him through with a perfect pass. Juve tried to reply. Pietro shot over and Gavin shot wide but it was Roma who continued to make the better chances.
Virginia made great saves from Michele and from Guillermo but Filippo flicked in a corner to make it 3-0.
Gavin tried hard and got some shots in but just of target. Mateo had a chance too but Michele made no mistake when he fired in the fourth. The icing on the cake was Saverio's fifth goal, a reward for some insistent play.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Michele 4, Guillermo 4, Filippo 3, Carlos 2, Gavyn 3, Francesco 1, Pietro 1, Saverio 1, Ewan 1, Mateo 1

u11 ANSPI: Ambrit 3-1 Vigna Pia

Ambrit's positive run of winning games continued at Ambrit Stadium tonight against derby rivals and second-place team, Vigna Pia Rossa.
Ambrit dominated the opening minutes and Alberto scored a goal to make sure that their positive start was rewarded. Adam, in goal for the first period, made a fantastic save to keep us ahead and Tiago made it 2-0 before the break off a great Vittorio assist. Tiago had a great game in this first period; his speed, aggression and determination kept the whole Vigna Pia defence occupied for large periods and opened up spaces for everyone else.
Dylan went into goal for the second period and immediately made a great save. The 'new' midfield of Jonah and Nicholas slotted in very well and both of them were all over the place, making excellent tackles. Anything that got through was ably dealt with by Carlo, Padro and Vittrio in defence, all of whom kept good positions and intercepted the opposing tackles with timely runs and decisive tackles.
Alberto first spurned a good chance to put the team 3-0 ahead but he made up for it later with a fine shot into the corner.
Ambrit kept the game under control in the third period. Jonah went into goal and made a good save when one-on-one against the opposing centre-forward and he could do nothing about the high lob that beat him later on.
AMBRIT: Adam, Carlo, Vittorio, Pedro, Dylan, Alberto, Cameron, Tiago, Bertie, Nicholas, Jonah

Milan 1-0 Inter

This derby was a scrappy affair. Given the amount of talent on the pitch, it was a poor game. The first real chance fell to Cristian after 9 minutes but his lob was high. Four minutes later, Alex D tried a long shot but Joel was alert. Daniel scored the only goal of the game, his fiercely-struck free-kick too hot for Cesare to handle.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Daniel 6, Ludovico 3, Dylan 3, Joel 2, Augusto 1, Raffaele 1, Michelangelo 1, Massimo S 1, Alex P 1, Alex D 1, Cristian 1

u13 ANSPI: Ambrit 7-4 Trigoria

Ambrit kept up the pressure on San Girolamo at the top of the table with another win on Saturday.
The first period was well played by Ambrit. Quick passes and great ball control saw us up by 4 goals - Nikos first with an assist from Pietro, followed by Pietro scoring a the second goal a few seconds later. Giacomo put in two more before the end of the first period.
Trigoria got their chance to score in the second period and Zach responded, putting one back in their net. Nikos with great confidence shot two great goals from midfield giving the goalie no chance. With no subs, Ambrit played the third period tired which allowed Trigoria to score 3 goals finishing the game 7-4

Fiorentina 2-1 Juventus

Fiorentina collected their first points of the tournament today against a Juve side decimated by detentions, absence and bad management.
Michelle put the girls 1-0 up early on when sheet a Selina pass superbly with a perfectly-timed strike. Ale N (pardoned today by necessity but will skip next match) equalised with a long shot but Noor turned sharply on an Annie pass and stroked home the winner. Juve had one chance to equalise but Mari made a good save.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Selina 4, Noor 2, Ale N 2, Gavyn 2, Pietro N 2, Michelle 2, Mari 2, Annie 2, Maisie 1, Emma 1, Amelie 1,

Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Having become accustomed of late to a high standard of play from the girls, a restless crowd today left Ambrit Stadium feeling unsatisfied after a mediocre game. Yes, there was a midfield battle but real chances were rare and, in all honesty, the goalkeepers were never troubled.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Carolina 3, Michelle 2, Naomi 2, Sofia dM 2, Annie 2, Lucy 1, Alessandra 1, Millie 1, Mari 1, Flavia 1, Clio 1, Chanel 1, Gea 1, Virginia 1, Allegra 1

u13 ANSPI: Ambrit 6-2 Casaletto

Ambrit had a tough start in the first period but Taki was able to get a rebound ball and score his first goal of the season. Soon after, Casaletto scored their first goal as well. Zach managed to get us up by one again before the whistle.
The second period was even tougher as Casaletto pressured Ambrit into defending with not much luck on goals from both sides. Ambrit came back stronger in the 3rd period, gaining their third goal through an own goal off a corner kick. Casaletto responded with their second goal but Ambrit by then was unstoppable, scoring goal after goal. First Nikos, Tommy, and Nikos again ending the game 6-2.

Disciplinary Committee

In their weekly meeting today, the FIGC Disciplinary Committee noted that Ale N and Tommy C, having accumulated two yellow cards, will be suspended for 1 match each.

Roma 4-3 Lazio

Roma followed up their Champions League victory over Porto by narrowly edging out derby rivals Lazio in a game that swung continually from end to end.
It was Lazio though who went ahead when Giacomo struck an early goal with a left-footed snapshot. Miguel could have made it 2-0 immediately afterwards but he shot wide. Rome attacked next; Filippo played in Michele but he too shot wide. Roma's equalizer was supplied by Guillermo when he followed up a Filippo shot that was saved by Ale C.
But Lazio stole back the lead almost immediately. Riccardo laid the ball nicely back to Giacomo and he blasted the ball home again.
Now Roma started to take over in midfield though. Lorenzo played in Filippo whose shot was saved by Ale. Guillermo passed to Michele and his shot too was saved! But then Michele dribbled into the area, was fouled and tucked home the subsequent penalty: 2-2.
Action continued to swing back and forth. From a kick-out, Edoardo passed to Mikel who flicked the ball onto Riccardo and Captain Ricky blasted home. But Roma equalized again with the best goal of the game: Michele passed to Guillermo and he lifted the ball cunningly over the goalkeeper.
Filippo stole the three points near the end. Lorenzo found Michele on the right; his shot was saved by Ale, but Filippo turned in the rebound from an impossible angle.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Guillermo 4, Edoardo 4 , Alessandro C 3, Michele 3, Lorenzo 3, Riccardo 1, Mikel 1, Giacomo 1, Filippo 1

u11 ANSPI: Casaletto 1-3 Ambrit

No flashes of brilliance on Saturday afternoon but another workmanlike performance sees Ambrit collect another three points as they continue to inch they way up the table to fourth place.
Two own-goals, both the result of a defence under pressure from Vittorio's accurate throw-ins, had the visitors comfortably ahead going into the second period and Vittorio added a third goal before long. The home side managed to pull one back before the second break.
Mr Corcoran threw the goalkeeper's shirt to Jonah for the last period and he didn't disappoint: in fact he thrilled the crowd with a rousing display as he made a series of fine saves to keep the scoreline at 3-1 right to the end!
AMBRIT: Jonah, Adam, Leo, Pedro, Nicholas, Tiago, Dylan, Cameron, Vittorio

RISA FOOTBALL - GIRLS - Second leg

Ambrit B 0 - 7 SGBIS A

GIRONE A
Ambrit A 4-0 SGBIS B (Malena x4)

Marymount A 4 - 0 SGBIS B

Ambrit A 1 - 0 Marymount A (Malena)

SEMIFINALI
Ambrit A 3 - 0 Ambrit B (Selina, Malena x2)

SGBIS A 4 - 1 Marymount A

FINALE
Ambrit A 2 -1 SGBIS A (Noor, Annie)

PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT: Selina, imprendibile sulla fascia, insuperabile nei contrasti. Gol, assist e tanta sostanza.

Napoli had no answer to Inter today and the 4-1 scoreline was a fair reflection of the game.
Cristian scored a hat-trick: his first - a free-kick - took Louis by surprise and his third was a sweet strike straight from a corner that curled to the back post and in. Inter's second goal was a gem too: Alex played a long ball upfield to Dylan and his touch, control, movement and shot were all perfect.
Napoli had few chances: a shot from Anthony, a header from Andrea but nothing of any note until Anthony's last-minute consolation effort.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Cristian 5, Alex D 4, Dylan 4, Paul 4, Anthony 2, Cesare 2

7.2.19

Arsenal 0-0 Liverpool

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Noor 5, Ameli 3, Selina 3, Carol 2, Allegra 2, Sarah 1, Eleonora 1, Emma 1, Gala 1, Giorgia 1, Rafaella 1.

u11 ANSPI: Ambrit 3-2 San Leonardo

A tense and hard-fought match saw Ambrit coming out on top and means that they leap-frog their opponents into 5th place in the table.
Tiago pounced on a defensive mistake and blasted the ball high into the roof of the net for the only goal of the first period, fifteen minutes in which Ambrit were dominant and should probably have scored more than one goal.
Ambrit continued to play well in the second period, though the visitors were now showing signs of life. Alberto was particularly important in this part of the game, passing well and tackling back. It was Alberto who set Tiago up near the end of the period but Tiago's shot came back off the crossbar.
Still 1-0 going into the last 15 minutes but, 5' into the period, Vittorio rifled a brilliant shot into the bottom corner to give the team some breathing space and, when Alberto nipped in to make it 3-0, it looked like the three points were in the bag.
But then the comeback started: 3-1... then 3-2... and the team were looking rattled. Coach Corcoran called a time-out to settle the team and it was then that Pedro showed his maturity, his courage and his team spirit: "Mr Corcoran, I'll go in goal for the last few minutes".
And he did. And the team settled down. And the team won the game. Bravo Pedro!
AMBRIT: Vittorio, Carlo, Pedro, Leo, Dylan, Cameron, Alberto, Tiago

Milan 3-0 Juventus

Juve's difficult moment continues. Missing Pietro N today and with a small squad, they never really threatened a well-organised Milan.
Sam's shot got past Sofia to make it 1-0. Carlos might have equalised soon after but he blasted the ball high over the bar from point-blank range, a miss equalled in its absurdity a few minutes later by Daniel at the other end. Joel meanwhile was rock solid and stopped two shots from Ale N and a third from Gavin. Alex P combined well with Daniel a few times but each of them put shots wide before Sam stepped up to make it 2-0 off a Daniel assist.
Tommaso sealed his place at the top of the scoring charts with he game's third goal.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Daniel 4, Alex P 3, Joel 3, Sam 3, Augusto 2, Ale N 2, Raffaele 1, Mateo 1, Gavyn 1, Tommy C 1

u13 ANSPI: Trigoria 1-7 Ambrit

Another convincing win from the 'aspiranti' this week. Nikos scored the only goal of the first period and Ambrit then turned on the turbo for period 2: Giacomo (2), Paul and Mateo contributed to a 5-0 lead with assists from Nikos for most of them.
Trigoria pulled one back early in period 3 but Ambrit added two goals late on.
AMBRIT: Mattia, Bernardo, Nikos, Taki, Zach, Giacomo, Paul, Ludovico, Mateo

1.2.19

Roma 3-0 Fiorentina

After losing 7-1 to Fiorentina on Wednesday evening, Roma got their act together today and won, though not as easily as the scoreline might suggest.
Having got to grips with the three-touch rule, Di Francesco's team began to create some chances - but not before Noor had almost put Fiorentina ahead. Only a good double save from Pietro kept the ball out of the net.
Roma finally broke the deadlock through Guillermo. His first shot was brilliantly saved by Virginia but Guillermo was quicker to the rebound and scored. Roma's other two goals were photocopies of the first. Good shot, brilliant save, rebound, goal... where were the defenders for the second ball??
Elsewhere, Michele smashed a ball off the crossbar and Virginia made lots of saves.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Virginia 4, Lorenzo 3, Guillermo 2, Pietro dP 2, Elias F 2, Michele 2, Annie 2, Selina 2, Noor 1, Amelie 1

31.1.19

Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS: Eleonora 4, Annie 4, Selina 3, Giorgia 3, Carol 2, Rachele 1, Millie 1, Carolina 1.

30.1.19

u11 ANSPI: Ambrit 4-1 Testaccio

Ambrit collected a valuable three points tonight in a game that was marked by hail, rain and some excellent performances by the Ambrit players and, in particular, Carlo and Tiago.
An early goal helped to settle the team down and it was Dylan who popped up to finish a good Vittorio cross.
Ambrit continued to attack and Tiago was causing havoc with his speed, particularly down the right. Tiago had a good chance when, after taking a kick on the leg, the referee played advantage and Tiago beat another defender but was then smothered by the goalkeeper.
Another quick goal early in the second period, this time from Cameron. Dylan made it 3-0 but then, suddenly, Testaccio woke up. Now they were breaking quickly and Ambrit were slow to get back. Carlo made some fine saves but, before the second interval, Testaccio did make it 3-1.
The same pattern continued early in the second half but Carlo continued to save his team, this time as a defender. With a cool head and perfect timing, his tackles broke up Testaccio attacks time and time again.
Then, with just 5' left on the clock, some shrewd positioning and a cool head saw Adam win the ball in midfield, drift past a defender and cross the ball to Cameron for a very satisfying goal and a very satisfying end to a very wet evening!
AMBRIT: Pedro, Carlo, Vittorio, Nicholas, Tiago, Dylan, Jonah, Cameron, Adam

25.1.19

Milan 8-0 Napoli

With Napoli down to 6 players, this was a one-sided game. Nothing to report except a clinical dissection of their opponents by Daniel and Tommy, ably supported by the rest of a well-organised and disciplined team.

24.1.19

Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Noor 7, Clio 3, Chanel 2, Maisie 2, Sarah 2, Allegra, Ameli, Flavia, Gala, Nina.

u13 ANSPI: Ambrit 5-2 Muratella

An excellent performance from an Ambrit team that was missing lots of players but still stamped their superiority on the game last night at Ambrit Stadium.
Bernardo started up front and put Ambrit 1-0 ahead when he pounced on a rebound from a Nikos shot. Muratella equalised seconds before the first interval from a free kick.
Cesare and Santiago came in for the second period; Muratella went 2-1 up but Ambrit fought back and Mateo, captain for the night, led by example when he banged in two quick goals to put Ambrit back in charge.
In the third period, with Mattia up front, Ambrit played some great football. Nikos in particular was passing and shooting with great confidence. His well-struck free kick was saved but he scored in the next move and Mateo sealed the win by completing his hat-trick.

23.1.19

Juve 1-0 Lazio

Lots of players were absent today and also absent was any sense of urgency in a match played at a pedestrian pace. Gavyn's goal was a well-placed cheeky lob from way out on the left touchline. Not long afterward, he cleared a shot off the line and Pietro N made a couple of good saves from Edo and Giacomo.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Gavyn 5, Edoardo 5Ale N 3, Giacomo 3, Pietro N 2, Mikel 2, Ale CS 1

20.1.19

u11 ANSPI: Santos 5-4 Ambrit

Another fine display from Ambrit's u11s with lots of positives, just a few very destructive negatives and an agonising defeat that was hard to swallow for players, management and supporters.
The first period began well for Ambrit and early pressure was rewarded when Tiago found Cameron on the right and Cameron buried the ball in the back of the net.
But, with Ambrit playing just two at the back and three in midfield and with too many players watching the ball instead of their opponents' movements off the ball, Santos began to exploit the space on the wings and their No. 31 and No. 34 fired shot after shot on target. Adam made some good saves but the scoreboard then showed 1-1, 2-1 and 3-1 to Santos going into the first interval.
Ambrit lined out for the second period with a three-man defence and just two in midfield but they ended up dominating the play and pinning their opponents back for the entire 15'! Alberto, captain today in the absence of Vittorio (and what a captain's performance), slammed a great shot off the post and then Adam scored his first goal for Ambrit to make it 2-3. Ambrit poured forward and Alberto scored to make it 3-3!
In the third period, the pendulum swung again. Santos took over and fired in two goals. But Ambrit never gave up. Inspired by Alberto, a tireless Dylan made yet another a fantastic run down the left and his cross found Alberto who tucked it away again.
An equaliser was not to be but Ambrit can take lots of positives from today's game. Apart from Alberto, today's stand-out performance came from Adam. When he took over up front, his touch, control and link-up play were crucial. Pedro and Leo were outstanding in defence. Dylan and Cameron, as usual, provided the energy and thrust going forward. Jonah improves with every game and Tiago and Nicholas, our younger players, are learning fast.
AMBRIT: Adam, Leo, Pedro, Jonah, Dylan, Alberto, Cameron, Tiago, Nicholas

18.1.19

Inter 2-0 Fiorentina

Two late goals gave the points to Inter and a two goal margin was probably not a fair reflection on how Fiorentina played today.
Early attempts from Inter were blocked by the defenders, saved by Yutong (subbing for an unavailable Virginia) or went wide as i nerazzurri got to grips with the three-touch rule and the two-player disadvantage.
Then, just as a bit of frustration was creeping in, Cristian opened the scoring with an unstoppable shot from an impossible angle.
The girls reacted and put together the best passing move of the game. From in front of the defence, Noor found Annie on the left and her pass put Selina in with just Cesare to beat but Cesare did enough to put it out for a corner.
Dylan whacked a fantastic shot with his left foot off the underside of the crossbar but then he scored the second goal shortly afterwards.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Alex 4, Cristian 4, Annie 3, Dylan 3, Yutong 2, Selina 2, Sofia dM 2, Noor 1

Liverpool 2-1 Manchester City

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Selina 6, Eleonora 3, Clio 2, Chanel 2, Sofia DM 1, Nina 1, Emma 1, Giorgia 1, Francesca 1, Sofia S 1, Naomi 1, Linh 1.

u13 ANSPI: Ambrit Beat League Leaders in Top of the Table Clash!

Having collected the Man of the Match award for Roma in the day's earlier Intramural match, Pietro dP went on tonight to inspire Ambrit to a fantastic 3-0 victory over San Girolamo at Ambrit Stadium and was Man of the Match again.
Going into the match, the visitors had taken a maximum 18 points from 6 games, with Ambrit in second place on 12 points from 5 games, but tonight's result throws the league wide open again!.
Ambrit's intentions were clear from the start. From the first whistle, our players were all over their opponents, pressing high and forcing errors and, once in possession, shooting on sight.
Mateo almost opened the scoring. He played a quick one-two with Taki but his shot flashed just wide. Next, on 13', Pietro played a delicious pass into Tommy's path on the right and Tommy hammered a ball past the despairing 'keeper who could only brush it with his fingers:1-0.
Pietro tried another shot immediately afterwards that just pinged over the bar and then Tommy whacked one that came back off the inside of the post when it really should have gone in!
The long-awaited second goal did come from Pietro just before the first interval when he banged in a rasping drive from 30m!!!
Ambrit came out for the second half knowing that they would have to fight to keep their lead and fight they did. The second period began at 2-0 and ended on the same scoreline. Eric made two good saves and Giorgio, Joel and Ludovico were fantastic at the back. Mateo nearly scored but his shot was cleared off the line and Tommy's follow-up was saved. Santiago, playing up front, put in a tremendous shift and played with great maturity, controlling the ball and looking to bring his midfielders into play with early passes.
In the third period, Cesare took over up front and kept the opposing defense busy. Pietro signed off with another goal, this one a well-judged high lob from the centre circle that crept in under the bar.
AMBRIT: Eric; Joel, Ludovico, Giorgio; Tommy, Pietro, Mateo; Taki, Santiago, Cesare

Roma 3-1 Napoli

When Roma spent E22 million for Di Penta, the newspapers were scandalised but today Michele paid back a large chunk of that fee with two early goals. The first was a peach; he came onto a loose ball wide on the right and cut it back past Louis into the only available space at the back post. The second he turned in from a Pietro cross and Pietro himself made it 3-0.
Though Valerio played well, Napoli were constantly stretched at the back and, coming forward, Anthony dribbled, passed and shot  - but not always choosing which one was right at the right time.
Napoli did win a penalty when Saverio handled in the box and Anthony tucked it away but Roma defended well at the back and harried enough in midfield to kill off any Napoli initiatives.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Pietro 5, Michele 4, Lorenzo 3, Filippo 3, Elias 3, Valerio 2, Anthony 1

Having missed the first round of matches, Ambrit didn't know what to expect on Saturday morning at St George's but, all in all, results were positive and this was a solid start to the league as our boys took home 5 points out of a possible 12.
New School 0-0 Ambrit
Southlands 0-0 Ambrit
SGBIS 'A' 0-2 Ambrit (Alessandro, Tiago)
SGBIS 'B' 2-0 Ambrit

u13 ANSPI: Real Guadalupe 5-12 Ambrit

After a difficult start, Ambrit ran out easy winners in Saturday's match at Empire.
In the first period, Ambrit fell behind 0-3 but, with assists from Giacomo and Tommy, Nikos brought the score back to 2-3 and Giacomo sent the teams in level at first break.
Ambrit, forced to change the entire team because of the number of players, pushed on in period 2 and goals from Paul, Zach, Mateo and Giorgio (2) left them comfortably in charge for period 3.
Guadalupe cored two early goals in period 3 but Paul (2) and Bernardo soon put distance between the teams again.
AMBRIT (period 1): Mattia, Cesare, Luodvico, Giacomo, Nikos, Tommy
AMBRIT (period 2): Eric, Giorgio, Paul, Pietro, Zach, Mateo
AMBRIT (period 3): Eric, Paul, Santiago, Taki, Tommy, Bernardo

Lazio 2-2 Milan

A fast-paced match, heavily spiced with some edgy tackles and two yellow cards, warmed up the crowd today at a chilly Ambrit Stadium.
An early goal, cooly tucked away by captain Riccardo, put Lazio 1-0 ahead. E76 million-man Daniel played Tommy through for a chance to equalise shortly afterwards but Tommy's lame left-foot finish was collected by Giacomo.
Tommy and Jacopo tangled on the touchline and Jacopo's reaction earned the game's first yellow card but Tommy too was booked later on for a push.
Back in play, Mikel created a good chance for himself but his shot flashed wide but captain Ricky struck again from close range to make it 2-0.
But Milan reacted quickly this time. Sam took advantage of a mistake in defence to beat Giacomo at his near post: 2-1. Milan now dominated and played better football, Lazio reduced to hopeful long balls. Daniel set Tommy up for another one-on-one versus Giacomo; first it seemed like Giacomo had come out on top with a good save but Tommy pounced on the rebound to score a late equaliser.

Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Juventus 1-2 Inter

Two of the strongest teams on paper but both were missing key players in today's opening fixture.
Inter's bargain buy, Dylan, opened the scoring on a break. He held off Gavin's challenge and slotted a well-placed shot past Elijah.
Alex played him in again shortly afterwards but this time Dylan shot wide.
Ale N tried a couple of shots from afar with his right foot but then, with his left, he cracked a ball back off the post: still a close game.
But then Dylan made it 2-0 with a photocopy of his first goal and Inter were in control.
Juve came back into the game though with a fine strike from Ale N (left foot again) and Juve should have stolen a point when the ball fell into the path of captain Carlos in the last seconds. But Carlos took a wild swing at the ball and squandered the chance to salvage a draw.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Alex D 5, Dylan 4, Ale N 3, Paul 3,  Gavyn 2, Elias EZ 1, Pietro N 1, Massimo S 1, Tommy S 1

SPRING INTRAMURAL

As the players go into a well-earned Christmas break, managers and agents now begin a hectic round of negotiations that will culminate in January's transfer market.
Deals will be finalised on Tuesday January 8th, when the captains gather to finalise their strategies.
Big money transfers are likely to involve Cristian and Dylan, Ameli and Flavia - all winners of the top scorer or best player prizes in December.
But shrewd captains will also be looking for bargains from lower down the points table to complete their squads with a balance of muscle and talent and the right mix of defence and attack.

As usual, a seventh team joins the Boys league in Spring and this seventh team - Fiorentina - will be a team of girls who are looking for extra practice as the Med Cup looms in early May.
Matches involving Fiorentina will be 8 girls versus 6 boys, with the boys limited to three touches.

ANSPI u11: Vigna Pia Bianca 2-2 Ambrit

24 hours after an excellent performance against CRIS, Ambrit returned to action against Vigna Pia.
A scoreless first period was very even but Vigna Pia started the second half more quickly and went 1-0 ahead.
But captain Vittorio came to the rescue 5' later with a fantastic free-kick that gave the goalkeeper no chance. At this stage, the teams were level but Vigna Pia continued to press and created too many chances for comfort. Ambrit were glad to hear the whistle for the end of the second period.
Nonetheless it was Ambrit who took the lead in period 3; Bertie followed up a knock on from Alberto and scored. But Vigna Pia equalized immediately, taking advantage of Dylan who had swapped into goal but was still putting on his shirt: the referee should really have held up the play.
The last few minutes were tense but the game finished 2-2.
AMBRIT: Leo, Carlo, Bertie, Alberto, Dylan, Cameron, Vittorio, Nicholas

And the situation so far...
After six games, the Ambrit u11 team is definitely improving and has probably not collected as many points as their play has deserved. Despite playing with no dedicated goalkeeper, the side has defended very well. Carlo's experience from last year shows in his confident approach and Leo is developing into a very dependable defender too. Pedro, another valuable addition to the team, can play at the back or further forward and does so with determination and skill. Our captain, Vittorio, is playing further forward this year and he continues to lead by example, always covering every blade of grass on the pitch. Alberto is back again this year and is often our best passer of the ball, while Dylan and Cameron have come into the team and given us new width, pace and an attacking impulse that was sometimes lacking before.
Bertie and Adam share a good first touch and always look for the simple pass and Nicholas is full of energy and running. Jonah is our secret weapon when we need to take an opposing player out of the game (legally!) and Cosimo has impressed with his tigerish play in midfield.
BUT, we still need to improve lots of things, beginning with those tackles... WE NEED TO WIN THEM ALL!

ANSPI U11: Ambrit 4-5 Cris

A heart-warming performance but a heart-breaking result for Ambrit on Wednesday evening at Ambrit Stadium.
Ambrit sprang out of the traps with great energy and pinned the visitors into their own half for much of the first period. Dylan put us 1-0 ahead and it was another shot from Dylan that forced a mistake from the Cris goalkeeper, allowing Bertie to put us 2-0 up.
A momentary loss of concentration towards the end of the period allowed Cris to pull one back and it was these short moments of distraction that would prove to be Ambrit's undoing later on.
Ambrit went further ahead at the beginning of Period 2, Vittorio on target. Cris stepped up the pressure and scored a good goal for 3-2 but their equaliser was unforgivable from an Ambrit point of view. Their captain took possession in midfield and, practically unchallenged, he was allowed to shoot and the ball was deflected in: 3-3 going into period 3. Nonetheless the second period was positive for Jonah's return to the squad and for a great debut performance from Nicholas.
Cris moved the ball around much more fluently in the final period and their centre forward brought the wide players into the game cleverly. Cris went ahead for the first time but Dylan completed his hat-trick: 4-4.
But a final burst from the visitors brought them a final, winning goal. No time to recover for Ambrit but lots of time to reflect on what might have been.
AMBRIT: Leo, Adam, Pedro, Vittorio, Jonah, Nicholas, Dylan, Cameron, Bertie, Alberto, Carlo

BOYS' FINAL: Inter 3-2 Milan

Today's match was a worthy final and the two teams went at each other hammer and tongs from first to last.
Inter completely dominated the opening minutes but couldn't score. Dylan set up Giorgio in the middle but his shot was wildly off-target. Next, Jacopo got off a fantastic shot from point-blank range but Virginia brought off a reaction save that will go down in the annals of Intramural history. Dylan ran onto a header from the subsequent corner but his effort was just over. Twice more Virginia denied Jacopo in this opening sequence but then Dylan did finally break the deadlock with a determined run and shot.
Finally Milan woke up and a speculative long-range shot from Michele evened up the scoreline.
At this stage, it was an even match and the most fascinating tussle was taking place between two 6th-grade players, Edoardo and Dylan.
Dylan today was in fine form; he tackled fiercely, ran well and passed cleverly. But Edoardo matched him step for step and divided his time between Dylan and Jacopo.
With 12 minutes still to play, Jacopo pounced to make it 2-1 but Milan re-doubled their efforts in attack. Inter defended a series of corners and looked to be escaping but Edoardo got a foot to a loose ball and poked it home: 2-2.
Milan now smelled victory and continued to throw men into attack, but this was their undoing. A bad bounce saw Dylan and Jacopo in the clear with only Virginia to beat and Dylan cooly slotted home the winning goal in this year's championship.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Dylan 6, Edoardo 5, Augusto 4, Mikel 2, Michele 2, Jacopo 2

BOYS' FINAL - Milan vs Inter: Preview

Wednesday's final sees Milan face up to Inter.
I nerazzurri carry an important double psycholgical advantage into the game - they have already beaten Milan 2-0 in the group stages and, worse, Milan find themselves without their vastly experienced captain (Ale N) for this final match.
And, as if this weren't enough, Inter's captain (Jacopo) is sitting on top of the Scorer's list and is in a fine vein of form, having starred in Ambrit's winning performance at St George's last Saturday.
A big responsibility will now fall on Milan's most experienced player - Michele - to lead his team in this match. Luckily he can count on the Mateo-Joel-Tommaso trio who have been part of Ambrit's successes in the ANSPI leagues for the last two seasons.
Milan's other ace is, of course, Edoardo - this year's grade 6 revelation and currently second in the Player of the Tournament table!
For their part, Inter look solid at the back: Gavyn is already a rock on his own but, with Elias EZ to back him up, the Inter defence is formidable indeed. They also have two goalkeepers to choose from. In midfield, Mikel and Augusto have been improving with every game and Dylan has been the perfect foil for Jacopo up front.

THIRD PLACE FINAL: Napoli 0-0 Juventus (4-4 after penalties... so far!)

Another cracking game at lunchtime but this one without any goals. Both 'keepers did well but lots of chances were wasted too. Juve with a better passing game, especially through Daniel and Alex P, but Carlos should have scored. Napoli dangerous on the break but Anthony and Tommaso too far apart, but greatly helped by Pietro who stayed in defence. The penalty competition did not produce a winner and will be resumed on MONDAY at LUNCHTIME.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Daniel 5, Alex P 3, Pietro dP 3, Massimo M 2, Anthony 2, Ludovico 2, Andrea 2, Massimo S 1, Tommy 1

Napoli 3-3 Inter (7-8 after penalties)

A wet and windy Ambrit Stadium was warmed this morning by a scintillating semi-final that ended in a dramatic penalty shoot out that saw Inter progress to next Wednesday's final.
Both teams had important absences today but Napoli kept getting their noses in front, with well-placed shots from Anthony and Pietro putting them into the lead on three occasions but, on each occasion, Jacopo found the answer with some determined, direct play and some precise finishing. Jacopo hit the bar too; Anthony had a good chance to win the game right at the end but his shot from point-blank range bounced back off the post.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Jacopo 7, Pietro 6, Anthony 3, Mikel 2, Gavyn 1, Taki 1, Dylan 1

GIRLS' FINAL: Chelsea 4-2 Manchester City

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Selina 6, Raffaella 4, Giorgia 2, GaiaDR 2, Ameli 2, Noor 1, Lucy 1,  Michelle 1, Sofia DM 1, Yutong 1.

ANSPI u11: Vigna Pia Rosso 2-2 Ambrit

Ambrit came from behind twice tonight to earn a well-deserved point against a Vigna Pia side that had come into this game on full points.
The first period was scoreless; with Cameron raiding successfully down the right hand side, Ambrit should really have scored a couple of goals but they lacked any killer instinct when presented with a chance. Adam got into some good positions but didn't finish. At the other end, Dylan was very solid between the sticks.
Immediately on the re-start, Vigna Pia caught us cold and were 1-0 up after 10 seconds. But Ambrit recovered and should have equalised through Bertie early on but, later, did equalise when Vittorio's determined play forced an error in defence. Particularly impressive in this period was Cosimo, who showed the kind of determination in the tackle that inspired his team mates later on.
Ambrit continued to press forward in the third period and Alberto and Adam both stepped up their games to give us an extra dimension going forward. But Ambrit were caught on the break with only five minutes left. This was the only chance that a fantastic Leo and Pedro in defence had allowed the home side but Vigna Pia tucked the ball past Carlo to make it 2-1.
Ambrit threw everything into attack and, from one of many corners, Vittorio drove a piledriver through the heart of the Vigna Pia defence and off the goalkeeper for the equaliser!
AMBRIT: Adam, Pedro, Leo, Carlo, Cosimo, Cameron, Dylan, Alberto, Vittorio (C), Bertie

BOYS Semi-Final: Milan 4-2 Juventus

After a turbulent qualifying stage, Milan got their act together and today knocked out Juve, who had finished in first place in the qualifiers.
Mateo put Milan ahead with a well-taken goal after 4' but the lead was short-lived, current top-scorer Julian levelling things soon afterwards.
Juve then got their noses in front for the first and only time when Carlos was played through and beat Virginia with a powerful cross-shot (congratulations to Virginia who played an excellent game but does not qualify for 'Best Player' votes; congratulations to Daniel too for his sporting gesture in allowing her to play).
One of Milan's best players again today was Edoardo and, when the ball bounced before him on the half-way line, he took aim and launched a high ball past Massimo in goal: 2-2.
Both teams continued to play well, with both captains prominent. Milan recaptured the lead  when Michele finished off a well-built move with a precise shot. Juve tried everything to equalise again but Virginia kept them out, with help from Mateo who headed a fierce shot off the line.
Ale made sure of the result with a last-minute goal.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Daniel 5, Edoardo 4, Ale N 4, Michele 3, Mateo T 2, Ottaviano 1, Alex PU 1, Francesco 1
