Basketball: A Good Start
Ambrit sent a MS basketball to AOSR on Saturday and they gave a good account of themselves in their debut tournament, winning one match of three and pushing their opponents right to the end in their other two encounters... not bad for a group who have never played together before! Well done to Manfredi, Jerry, Peter, Daniel, Pietro and Filippo and let's hope we can get some practice in before our next outing!

The G7 champions opened the scoring through Nathan and looked like they might have a slow-starting Teachers' team in trouble.

Ambrit Girls 6-0 St. George's Girls
Questo potrebbe essere tranquillamente il sottotitolo della partita disputata oggi, rispetto alla prova d'esordio di sabato scorso. Le nostre ragazze hanno dimostrato sul campo tutta la loro grinta e la loro bravura, lasciando alla avversarie - comunque una buona squadra - pochissime occasioni al tiro (nel secondo tempo il nostro portiere Lea non ha praticamente mai toccato la sfera).
Le occasioni create nel primo tempo (non si contano le occasioni da gol) vengono concretizzate solo parzialmente, con una doppietta di Lucrezia che fissa il risultato sul 3-0.
Nel secondo tempo, con l'inserimento di Michelle in difesa, la musica non cambia e - se possibile - la supremazia Ambrit è ancora più netta. Completano il punteggio prima un'autorete su azione ripetuta di Lucrezia, Gaia e Allison, poi un'altra doppietta della nostra fuoriclasse Lucrezia: 6-0.

An exciting game in which Ambrit was leading 2-1 after the first two periods. Unfortunately, PSG finished more strongly and dominated the third period.

Primary Girls
The primary girls team was made up of: Nicole Frazier in goal; defense - Bianca Tazzioli, Beatrice Basile, Aurelia Cooper; midfield - Alice Martini; attack Bianca Basile.
The opposition girls were bigger in age and size but the Ambrit team had a fantastic defense that only let a couple of goals slip through in each game. The team managed to score 2 goals, one against Southlands and one against St. Georges.
The girls had a positive attitude throughout the tournament and were proud of their performance, despite the results. The finalists were Southlands and Castelli, the eventual winners Southlands.

La prima uscita stagionale della squadra femminile allenata da Mr. Cristiani guadagna un bel pareggio 8-8 contro le rivali storiche della St. George's. Il punteggio, a una prima occhiata rotondo e insignificante, corrisponde invece a una partita appassionante, dall'andamento altalenante e imprevedibile.La partita è stata articolata in tre tempi:
1 Tempo - L'Ambrit parte forte, con Lea tra i pali, Malena ed Helena in difesa; linea del centrocampo con Matilde, Lucrezia e Gaia; Mia punta
2 Tempo - L'Ambrit deve rinunciare a Lucrezia, impegnata con la Roma, e torna in campo con meno convinzione e con un più modesto arsenale tecnico. Ma la grinta non manca: Mia prende palla al limite e fa partire un destro a giro sul secondo palo. 4-1! Non passa molto e la solita Mia - davvero scatenata - s'invola sulla fascia, supera due avversarie e scarica a rete: palo! Sul capovolgimento di fronte Lea compie un intervento difficilissimo, con una sola mano, ed evita miracolosamente un gol fatto. Le avversarie iniziano a prendere campo, le nostre sono stanche e un poco inesperte. Il 4-2 arriva inesorabile. Non basta un'azione di Allison-caterpillar che s'infila nella difesa e segna un gol importante: le avversarie mettono in rete tre gol consecutivi e chiudono il 2 tempo sul 5-5.
3 Tempo - Il terzo tempo inzia subito in salita, con un gol a freddo della SGES. Le ragazze Ambrit sono stanche (sulla preparazione atletica andrà fatto un discorso a parte) e le avversarie sono brave tecnicamente e ora vedono la vittoria come concreta possibilità. Un altro gol della SGES, con azione partita da un fallo su Allison, sembra tagliare le gambe all'Ambrit. Poco dopo il direttore di gara Calento, forse per compensazione, non concede un chiaro rigore alla SGES. E' a questo punto che Mia prende per mano la squadra: su azione personale accorcia le distanze, poi sfrutta un bel corner di Matilde per fare il 7mo gol Ambrit (quarto gol personale). Il sigillo sull'8-8 arriva nell'ultimo minuto di gioco con Gaia, che controlla un lancio lungo e insacca di destro.

The 6A steamroller flattened a game 6R today and set up a meeting with a worried Teachers' team next week. 6R take on 6M tomorrow.

The Autumn homeroom champions swept past 6M today as Daniel bagged three goals, surely pushing his price on the transfer market ever higher. Anthony scored the other goal and new goalkeeper Max was barely troubled.

RISA League: Ambrit Fight Back to earn SIX points!

Ambrit's first match was against New School and we started badly, allowing them too much time on the ball and too much room to shoot. A goal was inevitable, and it came. Afterwards, Ambrit tightened up and Lapo, Michele and Daniel all had chances before New School sealed their victory with a second goal.
Next up was SGBIS 'A' and Ambrit suffered their second defeat of the day. A physical advantage gave SGBIS the edge and their three goals were enough to cancel out Michele's goal for Ambrit.
Ambrit turned the tables in game 3 with a cracking 5-2 win over SGBIS 'B'. Goals from Lapo (2), Alex (2) and Daniel (see video) handed Ambrit a sweet 5-2 win. Alex almost made it six (see video 2).
Michele put Ambrit 1-0 up; Alex made it 2-0 but Peter handled in the area and Rome Int scored the resulting penalty and then charged forward to bag an equaliser. A draw looked on the cards but Michele struck again near the end and Ambrit took all three points!

Sixth Team added to IM2
The FIGC today announced that a sixth team will compete in the Boys' IM2.
Chievo will be made up of Girls so that our Girls' team can get in some extra practice for April's Med Cup.
In matches against Chievo, the other teams will field 7 players (versus 8) and, in these games, boys will be limited to 3 touches.

Ambrit's best period came in the opening third when they pressed forward and put the home team under pressure. On the ninth minute, Alessandro followed up an opposition clearance with a good shot which the keeper failed to hold and Giacomo was on hand to finish the move with the first goal of the game (see video).
Just one minute later, Pietro made it 2-0 and Ambrit finished the first period in a comfortable position.
But then it was downhill all the way!
Vigna Pia stepped up a gear and pulled a goal back in the 13th minute of period 2 and Ambrit finished the game with their backs against the wall!
Though they lost control of midfield, the defence nonetheless played really well and Eric, in goal, made some crucial saves.

The Autumn Intramural witnessed a worthy final at Ambrit Stadium today as the German and Spanish champions traded punches right to the end of a pulsating tie.
Aden had a chance to put the Germans ahead from a corner when he had a free header at the far post but be missed the target. Andrea fired in a shot too but it was Captain Gabriele - the Best Player of the Tournament - who opened the scoring with a powerful drive into the top corner.
Louis kept the score down with a good save from an impressive Lorenzo; Aden hit the bar; Alex scored the inevitable second goal.
But Barcelona reacted immediately. In the absence of Edo P, their real captain, Ascanio, took the game by the scruff of the neck. After an exciting double exchange with Edo J that put him in front of the goal, he smashed the ball in to make it 2-1 at half time.
But Bayern were more alert from the kick off and attacked immediately. A shot from Alex was only half-saved by Louis and, from the resulting rebound, Lorenzo picked out his captain and Gabriele made it 3-1.
Now the balance swung again. Edo J inspired his team with a forceful run down the right and a fantastic cross that should have been met by a team mate but instead went out. Time for Ascanio to come to the rescue again, and he did: another goal made it 3-2 and the tide was with the Catalans. They poured forward and, under pressure in his own area, Tristano's arm blocked an Edo J cross and the referee pointed to the spot.
Ascanio blasted the penalty against the bar but Edo J reacted an instant before Gabriele and bundled the ball over the line to tie a historic game at 3-3.
The standard of penalty-taking was high and one miss was enough to decide the match in Barcelona's favour.

Paris SG 4-2 Juventus
A quick start by Juventus flattered to deceive in today's Third Place final and it was the French Champions who came out on top at the end of an entertaining match.
Taro opened the scoring for the Vecchia Signora but Manfredi equalised soon after when Thomas played him through with a nice pass. Juve went back into the lead when Alessandro played a beautiful ball to Daniel and the G6 marksman was on target.
Manfredi and Nathan both had chances to equalise in one-on-one situations against
Manfredi now sits alone at the top of the goalscoring charts and Giuseppe heads the Best Player list.

Il Manchester United si aggiudica meritatamente il primo torneo Intramural 2016/17, con una bella prestazione fatta di grinta e bel gioco. Lucrezia, anima della squadra e autrice di una doppietta, trionfa anche nella classifica dei marcatori. Pesantissima per le ragazze di Spalletti l'assenza di Mia, bomber della Roma e Best Player nelle ultime due partite di campionato. Dopo il doppio vantaggio dei Red Devils, la Roma è riuscita, grazie alla rete di Annie, a rimanere in partita fino alla splendida rete del 3-1 direttamente su calcio d'angolo.
