Germany 1-4 Greece

Greece shocked the world of football today with a resounding win over Germany in a game highly influenced by an outstanding performance from the on-loan player: Elizabeth.
Greece took the lead when some poor defensive play let in Edo J for a headed goal over Octavio's outstretched arm.
Noah I then missed two fantastic chances and picked up a yellow card before Filippo C equalised on half-time.
Early in the second half, Greece went back into the lead through an own goal. Germany attacked but couldn't get past Anastasia. Greece made it 3-1 on the break, Noah I this time making no mistake.
But the best of the goals came at the end: Elizabeth collected the ball on the left just inside the German half; she looked up, saw Octavio slightly out of position and hit a beautiful shot past him and into the opposite top corner. What a beauty!
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Edo J 6, Anastasia 4, Taro 3, Alex K 3, Giacomo 2, Jacopo S 2, Noah I 1

France 3-3 Italy

This much-anticipated didn't disappoint another sell-out crowd at Ambrit Stadium today as the Spring Intramural saw its first draw.
Andrew Coleman got a good touch on an early pass and it was enough to give Italy the lead. Riccardo led his team's fightback and he scored the equaliser himself, Alfonso put France 2-1 up and Stuart made it 3-1.
Italy, after a disappointing defeat in their first game, were determined not to lose again and they deservedly fought back to 3-2 through Filippo G. Then, with only a couple of minutes on the clock, Alex V scored the equaliser with a well-struck and well-placed shot from the right.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Alfonso 5, Alex V 4, Ascanio 3, Tristano 3, Michael 2, Luka 1, Andrew C 2, Francesco B 1

Spain 5-0 Italy

Two goals from Noah G and three from Ricky were enough to sink Italy at Ambrit Stadium today.
Early in the first half, Sam threaded a beautiful pass through the Italian defence for Noah G to run on to and he slotted the ball neatly home. Eli seemed to have equalised three minutes later but his goal was disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper which was spotted by the referee's assistant.
In the second half, Spain played some fantastic football and ran riot. Riccardo played Noah G in for his second goal. Sam and Giovanni came close and then, from a corner, Noah G played a ball to Sasha who knocked it in to Ricky for the third goal. The fourt goal was a gem; a lovely passing move involving Giovanni, Sam and Ricky ended with Ricky's second goal and he added another at the end.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Noah G 6, Riccardo 5, Francesco B 5, Sasha 3, Sam 1, Tommaso R 1

France 0-2 Greece

With two extraordinary saves - one in each half - Anastasia helped to ensure that Greece got off to a winning start against a poorly-organised French team.
After a scoreless first half in which Anastasia made a series of important interventions, Edo popped up on the end of a throw-in to scramble the ball over the line early in the second half to give the Greeks the lead.
Riccardo did his best to lead by example, winning good ball in midfield and bringing his team mates into the play. Stuart was well-watched by the Greek defence and couldn't find the space he needed to get his deadly shots in and, when he did, they were blocked by Giacomo, Taro, Jacopo and Anastasia. Gabriele was always available wide on the left for France and also got some shots in, but to no avail.
The Greeks, as well as defending stoutly, were also looking for the second goal that would kill off the game. Noah almost grabbed it when he poked a clever shot that came back off the post, but Guerrino did grab the second when his last-miute shot was deflected past Alfonso in goal. But the highlight of the game was undoubtedly Anastasia'a second half save: as Stuart turned onto his left foot on the edge of the area and shot through a crowd of players, Anastasia, unsighted and seeing the ball late, dived to her right with lightening reflexes and stopped a certain goal.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Anastasia 8, Jacopo M 3, Gabriele 3, Taro 2, Riccardo F 1, Giacomo 1, Noah I 1, Stuart 1, Edo J 1

Spain 2-4 Germany

The first game of the Boys' Spring Tournament saw Filipo C justify his price tag with three goals to take three points for his team.
It all started well for Spain though when Riccardo G pounced twice on defensive errors to score two goals. Germany, though rocked by this early double whammy, pulled themselves back into the game with some determined football and Filippo C had them level at 2-2 at the interval.
In the second half, Spain were forced back into defence and Luca fired home to put his team in front for the first time. Octavio made a couple of good saves and Filippo C sealed the victory with his third.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Filippo C 5, Noah G 3, Riccardo G 3, Francesco R 2, Octavio 2, Ramnath 1, Lucrezia 1, Filippo T 1, Sam 1, Luca R 1, Tommaso 1

Argentina 1 - 0 Brazil

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS: Valentina 5, Anna 5,  Sophie 3, Gaia 2, Carolina 2, Greta 1, Margarida 1, Lucie 1, Ginevra 1.

Ambrit 2-6 German School Rome

An Ambrit team decimated by the current bout of flu', which kept some key players on the bench, put up a good perforamnce and might easily have won or drawn this game but for some glaring defensive errors.
Trailing by 1-0 at half-time, there was still all to play for but Ambrit lost their concentration in those crucial minutes after the break and were soon 0-3 behind.
Captain Luca then took matters in hand and, after a sound defensive display in the first half, he moved forward more often and was on hand to poke home a goal from three mters out to make it 1-3.
Ambrit now pured forward and left spaces at the back which were ruthlessly exploited by their opponents. Luca's second goal - a beautifully struck shot into the top corner - was Ambrit's only consolation at the end.
TEAM: Octavio; Alex, Luca, Pietu (Tommaso); Noah, Francesco R, Michael (Eli); Filippo G (Giovanni)

Teachers 0-1 Grade 8

The teachers slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Grade 8 in the final match of the season.
Filippo T's pace and strength earned him an early chance and his low shot squeezed past Mr Mallary.
The teachers came back and Mr Kisling fired a bullet of a shot that looked certain to go in but Player of the Match, Anastasia, pulled off a fantastic save and tipped the ball onto the crossbar.
She followed up soon after with two more good saves, both from Ms Wilson.
Towards the end, Mr Corcoran had an excellent chance to score a late equaliser but his hurried left foot shot was too high.

Teachers 7-1 Grade 6

The teachers, accustomed to giving lessons, certainly handed one out to the grade 6 students today but their real test (boom, boom!) will come against the 8th graders next week.
Ms Wilson opened the scoring, Mr Calento added two more and Ms Wilson made it 4-0.
Mr Blake, Mr Wasp and Ms Mascia, turning out for the first time, slotted easily into the formation and the chances kept coming. Mr Griffiths made it 5-0, Mr Corcoran 6-0 and Mr Calento added a seventh. But for Ascanio, it might have been ten or more.
The youngsters grabbed a consolation goal late on when Mr Corcoran lunged into a brutal challenge on Yara and Riccardo scored from the spot.

NEXT MATCH: Wednesday Dec 17th, TEACHERS VS GRADE 8

10.12.14

Teachers 3-1 Grade 7

An industrious Ms Pringle led her team's recovery today, scoring the equaliser in the 2nd period after G7 had gone ahead in the 1st period through a cooly-converted Michael S penalty.
Mr Calento then entered the fray and, with two clinical strikes, took his Ambrit career goals tally to 99 to keep the teachers undefeated this year.
Mr Mallary and Mr Griffiths each staked a claim for further appearances with convincing debut performances and Ms Wilson's return to the line-up gave the teacher's team something extra going forward.
For G7, Zeno looked unbeatable in goal and Filippo G was the danger-man up front. Noah G threatened for a while in midfield but Ms Van Ness soon took care of him.

NEXT MATCH: Friday December 12th, TEACHERS versus GRADE 6
1st period: 6A
2nd period: 6M
3rd period: 6W

Can Mr Calento score his 100th goal for the Teachers??

Teachers 4-0 Intramural Winners

A packed Ambrit Stadium saw the teachers throw down a gauntlet at the beginning of the Autumn series of friendly matches against the students.
Mr Nardi played Mr Piccolo in for the first goal and the Australian marksman then turned provider, setting up Player of the Match, Miss Van Ness, for the second goal.
In the second period, Mr Nardi made up for an earlier miss in front of goal by scoring a rocket from 2 meters out (well, maybe 80 cm out): Ascanio survived... but only just!
A tireless Mr Piccolo, always making runs into space, finished off the scoring when he got on the end of a pass from Ms Pringle.

GIRLS' FINAL Chelsea 4-0 Arsenal

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Elizabeth 6, Sofia 5, Sophie 2, Ginevra 2, Eilidh 1, Ran 1, Anna 1, Raffaella 1, Leila EZ 1, Leila K 1.

Sampdoria 1-1 Milan (7-6 after penalties)

A historic victory today for Sampdoria in the Intramural Final at Ambrit Stadium.
Having fallen behind to an early Alex V goal in the first half, Stuart grabbed an equaliser late in the second half in what was a scrappy game with few chances and forced the game into an exciting penalty shoot-out.
Five penalties each were not enough and we went to sudden death where Ascanio, having played well in goal, came out to take the last penalty and steal the glory for i Doriani.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Giacomo 5, Sasha 3, Zeno 3, Ascanio 2, Edo J 2, Alex 1, Gabriele 1, Taro 1, Noah G 1, Alfonso 1, Guerrino 1

Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

Player of the Match Points: Lucie 5, Vale 5, Angelica 3, Ran 2, Celeste 2, Beatriz 1, Gaia 1.

Juventus 1-2 Milan

Without Riccardo G, Nicholas and Luca R, i bianconeri were overwhelmed by an in-form Milan and lose out on the final, which will b contested by Sampdoria and Milan.
Juve will play off for Third Place against Lazio next Friday.
Sasha rewarded his team for all their early play when he scored from a corner. He continued to combine well with Noah G and scored a second goal with a beautifully-curled shot from a free kick.
Edo P escaped his markers to knock a goal in before half time to keep Juve in the game.
Sasha had a great chance to complete his hat-trick when Alfonso set him up but no goals were added in the second half.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Sasha 5, Giacomo 4, Noah G 3, Mateo 3, Alfonso 2, Jacopo S 1, Thomas 1,  Jacopo M 1, Artur 1

Sampdoria 5-0 Lazio

Lazio kept their genovese opponents at bay for most of the first half but then Luka, under pressure from Stuart and Guerrino, played a sloppy ball across the area and Sam nipped in to take full advantage.
In the second half, the floodgates opened: Gabriele made it 2-0, Stuart, 3-0, Guerrino played in Sam for 4-0 and Stuart scored the fifth.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Gabriele 5, Guerrino 5, Stuart 5,  Taro 3, Pietu 2, Sam 1, Ascanio 1,
